6 month anniversary

We are almost 1 month into FAHBG and I am so proud to be a part of it. Often, I complain and bellyache about the heat, the workout, whatever, but ultimately I am noticing a difference. Andrew and I spent a few hours chatting last night (over Chick-Fil-A sandwhiches… I know Josh, we are cutting it out slowly!) and we agreed on a few things concerning the gym. Here’s my take:

One, the social aspect is important. I don’t think I’d be interested in working out at this level of intensity if it weren’t with this great group of friends we have. Maybe someday the fitness and health aspects will match the social for me, but now, I am really just enjoying hanging out and getting hott at the same time.

Two, diet is essential. Abby and I have been adjusting our eating habits for about a month and when I eat outside of the zone, I can tell and I feel like crap, like today after Chick-Fil-A and beer! As we get more and more serious about results I think it will be really great to post and share dietary advice here so we all can eat like champs to match our winners workouts. Post links to articles, recipies, and your own experiences.

Three, practice is professional. I can’t say enough how pleased I am to not only understand basic lifts (squats, cleans, ect) but also be able to execute them with good, and hopefully, constantly improving form. I think the more we work with these exercises, the more confident we will become. So, practice, imagine the movements, and ask questions. Lets do this right.

And four, goals are crucial. Thus the title of this post – what do you want to have acheived by our 6 month anniversary? Weight loss? Muscle mass? Six-pack abs? Overall tone and feel good about your body? Look great naked a la Il David? Set goals now, and take your “before” pictures because “after” is coming sooner than you think.

By November 8th, my 26th birthday, I will be doing muscle-ups. F#@$ weight loss and washboard abs, I want to pull up and dip my way to X-fit glory. The Muscle Up is one step closer to God.
