Gotta complaint? Let me tell you where to put it…

Ok.  So I think it’s time.  I think it’s time to get really really BA.  I think it’s about that time that we really start pushing ourselves.  I’ve been searching different Crossfit sites lately and honestly, I feel like a wimp.  There’s so many really BA people out there  and frankly I’m not one of them, yet.  The problem is is me, I don’t push myself as hard as I could.  I’m sure I’m not the only one feeling this way, so I’m interested in seeing if we crank it up a notch, how much further do you think we could go?  I mean what what are our goals?  I think about this a lot and wonder what kind of Crossfitter I want to be.  Do I want to do the bare minimum and look good or do I want to push myself to the point of breaking records?  Part of me wants to be able to go head to head with some of these chicks I see in the videos but I know I’m nowhere near it since I don’t push myself enough.  Doing ‘Angie’ last week left me rather disappointed in the fact that I didn’t finish all the pull-ups (if you can call them that, ehh). I gave up, plain and simple.  My range of motion was not there and frankly I was sick of pushing out weak pull-ups.  So does that mean I should give up?  Nah man, push out those gnarly pull-ups and freak’n finish.

I think first and foremost we should set some goals.  We’ve talked about it before but I think we should seriously do it.  If you’re not one who wants to break records then fine, sit on the sidelines and do the bare minimum.  One thing, bare minimalist and maximalist,  I would like to see us conquer complaining.  I know complaining is a natural thing to do, it’s like second nature to me most times but I’m interested in seeing if refraining from complaining (internally and externally) will impact ourselves and as those around us.  So I propose a challenge.  For anyone who complains at any point during the workout, gets to do 5 extra burpees for every complaint at the end – clock ticking.   BA riiiiiighhht?  I say we start there and from there we take the next step which is when we didn’t do a rep right, it doesn’t count.  Now that’s hardcore.

So what kind of Crossfitter do you want to be?   Bare Minimalist? Or BA Maximalist?



  1. Abby. I get so frustrated too when I start comparing myself to others. Always push yourself. Take it up a notch… but don’t forget to celebrate how far you’ve come and what you’ve accomplished. You’re doing great and you’re the ultimate BA in my eyes!

    • I totally agree, abby! Thanks for saying it! And I’ve been thinking about our goals as well, or at least my goals. I’m gonna post my goals on the blog shortly and set a time limit for all of them. Let’s maximalize our BA!
